Jolla Code Camp

Jolla Code Camp Week was held from Monday to Friday (24-28 February 2013) in Room 6218, Lappeenranta University of Technology. This codecamp is mandatory for PERCCOM students and we got 4 ECTS (credits) for attending the program. The official course name is CT30A9301 Code Camp on Platform Based Application Development. The mentor is Antti Knutas and he is a Finn.

During this one week-code camp we learned to develop on the new Sailfish operating system and use our development skills to harness open web data from around the world. The theme for the code camp is Open Data, that means we must develop an application using data that is available for free in the internet. It can be a weather forecast data, traffic data, map/location data, etc.

We were divided into 11 teams, each consist of 3-4 students. Each of them should name their team and update the wiki page as they progress toward the development of their application. To read the Codecamp Wiki page, you can click here. On the first day (Monday), we received some introduction tutorials from Jolla representatives, and then in the evening, we gathered at the LUT Beach Sauna House to present an introduction about our ideas and implementation. The next three days (Tuesday-Thursday) is spent for coding. And finally, the last day (Friday) is prepared for the final presentation in front of the jury.
